What are some of the ways that some of you have "fixed" or filled in small (1-3mm) holes in your tonewood? I've heard m.o.p. dots being used, but I'm not sure I can picture that. Do you fill them to match? Fill them to contrast? Pics would be appreciated. Thanks -j. |

It depends on the woods. I like to inlay a small piece that is irregular shape so it fools the eye. A little touch up and you can make them invisible. Amacing what you can do with some art colors and such. John Hall |

Try this page on Allied lutherie's site for instructions on fixing wormholes, if you haven't seen it. Good luck- |

I have a bookmatched pair of wormholes on the back I'm building now, about 2mm diameter. That's character!! They stay untouched. Ron |

I build alot of BRW classicals and almost always have to deal with holes. On a dark wood when you mix sanding dust with a glue/binder (epoxy, CA, etc) it blends in well and under a finish will disappear unless you are looking for it. Contrasts are another way to go but only if you want to emphasize and that usually comes down to a matter of placement and amount of holes. |

I won't discuss the time that I accidentally drilled a hole in the side of one of my guitars. Al |

Enhance it. I have a set of H. Mahogany sides that each have a worm hole. No way to fill that w/o it showing, so I have a design to inlay a worm crawling out of one hole and the back end of the worm going in the other hole. Haven't implemented this yet, still on the drawing board. Alan D. |
